Q: Is it normal to have "Illegal Operation" and "Blue Screen"
errors?
A: No.
Q: Is it normal to have Windows run out of memory?
A1: No. I see more memory problems on older computers running WIndows95 or Windows98 A version. I see fewer memory
problems on the newer computers, but it's still there.
A2: It depends on how much "junk" has been loaded onto the computer.
A3: It depends if a program is closed and re-opened multiple times during a session. A "session" is
the time when a computer is turned on to the time the computer is turned off. Even Microsoft says that Windows
should be rebooted DAILY.
Q: How can you tell when a lot of "junk" has been loaded onto a computer?
A: Goto Start > Settings > Control Panel
Double-click on System
Goto the Performance Tab. It should show no
less than 80% free resources (on the 2nd line)
Q: If it shows less than 80% free resources, what can I do?
A: To skip loading the TSR items in the Startup folder, simply hold the Shift key down during boot-up.
Then go into the Performance tab again and see the difference.
If the difference is substantial, then you can download the "Stop Startups" software available on the
1USA Downloads page. (for 1USA subscribers only)
Q: I have a greeting card CD-Rom that came with the printer. It installed 525 Fonts into my Fonts folder. I
now get more "memory errors" than before installing the software. What can I do?
A: Windows comes with standard fonts, somewhere between 35 - 50 different fonts. You should decide if you need
all 525 fonts and Disable the rest of them; freeing up that memory. 1USA has a Fonts Support page too, if the problem is Too Many
Fonts.
If you'd rather have a professional do it right, take the computer to one of the good "1USA-Recommended"
