Setting up your email identity in
Outlook Express
Print this page if you want to.

  First thing:
Outlook Express 4.0 is not Y2K compliant software.
Outlook Express 4.0 with ServicePak 2 installed is Y2K compliant, but there will be Java errors if you still have the corresponding Internet Explorer (web browser) version 4.0 installed.
Internet Explorer (web browser) 5.0 and 5.01 will work, but Microsoft has the wrong version of Java in it, which means you will not be able to use it with Banking websites, etc.
If you have Internet Explorer version 5.5 (with servicepak 1) which also installed Outlook Express version 5.5 to be fully compatible with all websites, Banking and Investment institutions, etc.

The best thing to do is to is to update to Internet Explorer version 6, which also updates Outlook Express to version 6. Please goto Windowsupdate.Microsoft.Com and retrieve the latest Updates before continuing below.

Open up Outlook Express
Click on Tools
Click on Accounts
Click on the Mail Tab. You will see any existing email accounts.

To create a new email identity, click on the Add button.
To edit an existing account (to fix the password, etc) double-click on the account name.

General Tab

On the General tab:
Under Mail Account, type in your full Email address with the @ sign.
User Information:
Name: Type in the name that you want people to see when they read your emails. This line can have spaces in it.
Organization: This is usually blank, unless you want to place your company name in here.
Email Address: Place your email address in here. No spaces. (Email Addresses are assigned by 1USA; you can't just pick one out of the blue.)

Reply Address: Let this blank unless you pickup your mail from another mailbox. Let's say you have another email address like JimSmith@Yahoo.Com. When people read your email and click to reply, the email address their response will go to will be this one, not to the Email Address field.
Since 1USA has
virus-protected email service, I don't know why you'd want to read incoming emails from elsewhere.

Include this account when doing a full send and receive.

Servers Tab

On the Servers Tab:
- Servers have names. The name of your Incoming server is Home.1usa.com
- The name of your Outbound server is Out.1usa.com Uppercase / lowercase - it doesn't make any difference.
- Put your full email address in the Account Name field. The Mail Server at Home.1USA.Com needs the full email address on this line.   Account names are provided to you by 1USA staff.   Just choosing any account name out of the blue will not work.
- Put a checkmark in the box for "My server requires authentication".

Connection Tab

On the Connection Tab:
Let it unclicked so it connects to the email server using the existing connection.

If you wish to force a separate connection, click on the box and then select 1USA.COM in the window.
This will force a Disconnect then a Reconnect using the specific Dialer setup.
This is useful if you are a subscriber to multiple ISP services and you want to
force it to use the 1USA connection when retrieving emails.
