| Customer says: The attachment in this email
was inaccessable due to something called "OE"... I got a message indicating that "OE removed access
to the following unsafe attachement in your email: spybotsd12.exe"...what now?! Answer: There are too many people out there who have viruses on their computers. In 1998, Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, has set HTML format as the default emailing format on all Windows computers. How to Change from html emails to plain-text emails. Prior to that, Plain Text was the default. You could see at a glance if there were any files attached or anything strange being emailed to you. Since the force-feeding of HTML-formatted email, it can hide some nasty things... like <iframe> tags, <metatag refresh>, Javascript programs that can link to a virus-infected website, even a Hidden Serial Number when you click to Unsubscribe from Spam Emails, etc... etc... all without your knowledge... and all without your permission. Microsoft opened the Gates of Hell just so you can send emails that look pretty. : ) And now because there are so many infected computers out there, every time you go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to retrieve any new updates & bug fixes, it automatically puts a checkmark in a checkbox to prevent file attachments. In my opinion, it's too little too late.... If your computer has anti-virus protection that retrieves updates.... meaning: If you pay $29-$39 per year for an antivirus subscription from Norton, McAfee, PC-Cillin or one of the other antivirus manufacturers, or if you are a 1USA Subscriber and 1USA has provided you the antivirus software free as part of your subscription, then it would be safe to un-check the checkbox. |

Since 1USA's mail servers run anti-virus software to protect its customers, you won't be receiving many "viruses" through email !! It is important, though, to have an anti-virus software subscription to protect the computer from getting a virus via other methods.... such as - Hotmail, Yahoo mail, etc. - visiting an infected website - a virus that is transmitted directly from an infected computer directly into your computer, going around 1USA's protections. If you're not a 1USA Subscriber yet, now is a good time to give it some serious thought. We have Service Plans for every type of internet connection. *How to change your default email sending format.
